Welcome!

Originally from Staten Island, NY, I moved to South Florida in 1992 with my husband, Steve. I've had numerous jobs over the years, but my longest run was a medical transcriptionist for 15 years. It was a perfect match for the mother of a beautiful daughter. After a move to Palm Coast, FL near Daytona, I was asked to teach a medical transcription course at a local technical center. This is when my love for teaching CTE began. Teaching new career skills to eager adults was very rewarding.

I completed my B.S. in Technical Education and Industry Training from the University of Central Florida in 2009. From there, my passion grew for this industry, so I continued on with a Masters in Career and Technical Education (Spring 2012). Presently, I teach business communications and business computer applications at WyoTech, Daytona, which is a career college for motorcycle and marine technicians. I also teach an undergraduate course at the University of Central Florida called Principles and Practices of Technical Education in the Career and Technical Education Department.

During my studies at UCF, my research and writing skills strengthened. I penned an article, Manufacturing Careers, Skilled Workers, and the Economy, which was published in the Nov/Dec 2011 issue of ACTE's Techniques Magazine. This prompted me to continue on with my education so that I may write textbooks, scholarly articles, and research publications. I enrolled in the Ph.D. program for Career and Workforce Education at USF for this purpose and with the hopes of a bright future to include extensive research as a notable CTE university professor. Technical educator professional development policies in federal legislation is my focus as well as career education of disabled adults in the vocational rehabilitation program. I tend to lean towards professional development at this time.
